Next Morning, Picking Blueberries

By Karla Linn Merrifield

In ready fruit, fruition:
warm, plump

to tongue,
once nimbly popped
in open mouth —
one tender nibble—
plush the explosion.

I swallow blueberries whole
because I was as I was.
